Crafternoon therapy

Most people eat chicken soup when they’re sick, and whilst I’ve eaten more than my fare share of chicken soup, particularly in the last year, this week i turned to crafternoon-ing to lighten up my current sick spell. I have been trying my hand at using milk paint in various shades to distress furniture, and once you get past feeling like your ‘ruining’ the furniture, you cant help but love it. I love love love how this set of drawers turned out.

Meesshh is back

Well it has been a long time since I’ve undertaken a market. There has been a number of challenges to face, particularly illness that have affected Meesshh towards the end of 2014. However 2015 is proving to be a better year, and as I am on the improve health wise, I have also undertaken a beginner silver smithing course. Whilst I still can’t say I could recreate my Bali pendant again yet, I am enjoying my new found skills and hope to introduce some copper pieces to markets in the near future. This picture is of a pendant I made at the course, which is probably half way through at this point. Very fun!

Meesshh on hiatus

I am having a quiet year this year, as I have been unwell with a chronic illness and as a result unable to pursue markets as I would wish. However my work room is still being used when I am able, and Meesshh will be back in due course with fresh and exciting ideas. We all need to know when to rest ourselves and my creativity and imagination doesn’t produce the results that I like when I try and force it.

As Solomon wrote ‘to everything there is a season’ and my season right now is for rest.

Meesshh tries silversmithing

Oh goodness I have awoken an inner silver smithing beast. Here is a silver pendant I made on my recent holiday to Bali. I must confess that it was a half day course in which I designed and cut it out; but the host did all the tricky things like welding. However I very much enjoyed it and am now determined to find a course I can do to learn how to do all the tricky bits too.

Meesshh at Steampacket Markets in Geelong

Here we are at the Steampacket market on the waterfront. It is always lovely and encouraging when I have friends visit me at my stall, and Jess decided to stay the entire day in 30 degree heat to support me. What a legend. Please excuse the steamy photo – darn humidity.
